Taking the motorhome to the party is perfect!

Writer: Helena Bergström

Last Saturday we were invited to a 50th birthday party in Åkersberga, just outside Stockholm. At first we thought: should we take a train home late at night, or find somewhere to stay overnight? The next second it hit us: Of course we'll take the motorhome with us. The motorhome is completely perfect to take with you when you go to a party!

Get ready to party!

The same evening that we were invited to a party, a storm was promised in Sweden. In a way, it was a perfect opportunity to leave the houseboat. Although it is safe in storms, it can be uncomfortable at times if the gusts are too strong. However, we made sure to check all the knots, and to re-tie some. You want the boat to be properly moored!

We then changed into our party clothes and packed some small items into the campervan: toiletry bag, drinks, breakfast food, day-after clothes. We have almost unpacked after our long trip to Europe, but we still have bed linen and towels. In other words, we can quickly get the campervan ready for a short trip!

Real motorway service area in Åkersberga

The party would be in the centre of Åkersberga, so where would we park the motorhome overnight? We did exactly what we do when we're abroad - we used the Park4Night app. It turned out that there is a great car park by the canal, with four large parking spaces specifically designated for motorhomes.

The only service available is rubbish bins. On the other hand, you have a nice view of the boats in the canal and it is completely free to spend the night here. An absolutely excellent place we must say. Thanks for this Åkersberga!

50th anniversary party at The Public

Our friend Anna, who was turning 50, had chosen to have the party at The Public pub in Åkersberga. The pub was open to all visitors, but we had our own little corner for the party. A nice place and a nice way to organise a party!

I didn't take many photos of the party itself, as I simply wanted to focus on the company. Sometimes it's also nice not to bother asking people if they want to be in the picture, if you can publish the pictures etc.

At least I took photos of our food! I (Helena) ordered a salad with chèvre on sourdough bread and Peter ordered mussels. We were both very happy. Sooo good!

Morning in the campervan ... with a prawn sandwich!

The good thing about taking the campervan to the party is that you can stay late in the evening, without worrying about when the trains or buses leave. We didn't stay that late though, as we were both feeling a bit droopy and I had the beginnings of a headache. Anyway, it was a very Have a nice evening!

For the following morning we had bought eggs, mayonnaise and prawns, so we could start the morning with a prawn sandwich. A real treat!

It's great to have a motorhome! Not only is it useful for those exciting long journeys, it also comes in handy in many other situations. It's simply perfect to take your campervan to the party!
