Good start to the year for the motorhome industry
In January, twice as many motor caravans were registered compared to the same month a year ago. At the same time, new caravan registrations are down compared to January 2025. This is announced by the National Association of the Caravan and Motorhome Industry (HRF).
The industry is also preparing for the spring fair, Stockholm Caravan Motorhome taking place 5-8 March 2026. A wide range of motorhomes and caravans are on display at Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö.

How Swedes travel for love
In the run-up to Valentine's Day, Hotels.com releases a survey of 1,000 Swedes. The results show that Swedes are masters at combining the practical with the romantic, but that certain aspects differ between generations.
- People in long-distance relationships: 40% say they take turns travelling to each other, with younger generations Gen Z (46 %) and Millenials (45 %) leading the way. It is more common for one partner to do the travelling than the other among older generations.
- That's how long we travel: The average journey time is 7.11 hours, with almost a third of Generation Z stating that they would travel for over 12 hours for a romantic trip.
- Older people want a private balcony. Young people want a spa: What constitutes a romantic setting also differs between generations. Older guests are more likely to appreciate rooms with a private balcony/view, while younger travellers focus on spa and wellness.

Breakfast and hotel sex - what matters most to Swedish couples in hotels
Valentine's Day is often associated with luxury, bubbly and grand gestures. But when Swedish couples have their say, it's something completely different that makes the hotel romance grow.
A new survey conducted by Verian on behalf of BWH Hotels shows that it is shared experiences and a break from everyday life that are most valued when checking into a hotel with your partner. This is what Swedish couples appreciate most about staying in a hotel:
- Hotel breakfast together (60 %)
- Changing environment (38 %
- Making it more luxurious (34 %)
- Sex away from home (17 %)
- Sleeping in/ sleeping out (15 %)
- Being undisturbed (14 %)
- Late check-out (10 %)
- Personalised service and treatment (9 %)
- I have never stayed in a hotel with a partner (9 %)
- Bath in the room (7 %)

Expensive sports holidays in the Swedish mountains - here you go cheapest
During the sports holidays, prices are highest at Swedish ski resorts. But the cost of a skiing holiday varies greatly depending on where you choose to go, according to a survey by Sambla. A calculation, based on four days of skiing, shows that it can cost thousands of kronor for a whole family depending on where you go.
The cheapest skiing is in Kläppen - and in Åre it is the most expensive. If you look instead at where you get the most piste per krona, then Skistar Sälen and Åre are the most affordable.

Reflection of the week
That companies that market hotels lift Valentine's Day is perhaps not so strange. And it can be nice to stay in a hotel with your partner! For our part, we don't usually focus on this specific day though - we like loving experiences regardless of the day. Do you usually do something special on 14 February?

Anna i Portugal says:
No, Valentine's Day is not something we celebrate or even recognise. Hope you have a nice Sunday!

No, heart days can be had at any time. I rarely even remember that day. .
Fun with the boat trip that offers a little of everything. Have a couple of times travelled the entire Göta Canal, from Stockholm to Gothenburg, but now the trip with the Göta Canal boats does not feel so attractive because of the price. On the other hand, a trip with Svea Lejon may be relevant. If you want to see more of Stockholm's fantastic outer archipelago with a guide, disembarkation, breakfast and lunch, Blidösundsbolaget in collaboration with the ship Sjöbris usually has really good full-day trips. Recommended. However, very sought after and with little marketing.
