Mem is a small town by the deep bay of Slätbaken, just outside Söderköping. The small town serves as the Baltic Sea gateway to the Göta Canal and it was also here that the canal was once inaugurated. For us, this is the place where we start our motorhome journey to follow the Göta Canal.

Gräsö is a scenic island located just outside Öregrund in Roslagen. The island is surrounded by beautiful cliffs and there are several nature reserves on the island. Here you will also find camping, hostels and a beautiful old church.

Ängskärs havscamping is beautifully situated on the Hållnäs peninsula in north-eastern Uppland. We camped here for a day and enjoyed the beautiful nature and lovely cliffs by the sea. If you're travelling by motorhome and prefer to stay on a pitch, there are several to choose from nearby.

Lingnåre cultural reserve is located on the Hållnäs peninsula in Tierp municipality. There are currently a total of 43 cultural reserves in Sweden, and this is one of them. We made a visit here when we visited Sikhjälma harbour with the motorhome.

This motorhome weekend started with us going to a site in Sikhjälma harbour, on the Hållnäs headland in Tierp municipality. We had a special reason to come here, but this is also a beautiful place by the sea. Here you can, among other things, experience the Kapplasse nature reserve and fantastic sunsets.

Updated: October 2026 | By Lake Erken in Roslagen lies the Viking Village Storholmen, a living open-air museum where you can travel back in time about a thousand years. Here you will find reconstructed Viking houses, crafts and activities that give an insight into life during the Viking Age. We discovered the village almost by chance during a motorhome trip and had an unexpectedly pleasant meeting with some of the people behind the operation.

During the last night of the midsummer weekend, we went free camping at Lake Erken in Roslagen, at Svanberga bathing area. Here we had a fantastic view of the beautiful lake, and we were surprised by a nature reserve with impressive oak trees and ... a Viking village. Updated: October 2026 | Väddö havsbad och camping is beautifully situated by the Åland Sea, with a sandy beach, forest and lovely natural areas right next door. We spent two nights here with our camper van during a midsummer weekend. The campsite itself was quite simple and a bit worn when we visited it, but the location was fantastic and we had two great days of swimming, cycling trips and discoveries on Väddö in Roslagen.
