When we traveled through Albania by camper van, this became one of our favorite stops, with a high standard, scenic location and plenty of activities.

Lake Shkodra Resort
Lake Shkodra Resort is located on Lake Shkodra, just outside the city of Shkodër in northern Albania. The campsite is located in a beautiful natural setting, with the high, mountainous Jezerca mountain in the background.
The city of Shkoder
Shkodër is one of Albania's oldest and most charming cities, beautifully situated on Lake Skhodër and surrounded by mountains and rivers. High above the city stands Roza Castle, one of the country's most impressive landmarks, with spectacular views of the countryside.
According to legend, a woman named Rozafa was immured within the castle walls, giving the place a mysterious and fascinating aura. For visitors, Shkodër offers a combination of culture, nature and history.
Lake Shkoder in northern Albania
Half of Lake Shkoder is on Albanian soil and flows into the Adriatic Sea via the Buna River, while the other half belongs to Montenegro. The feeling you get from being here is that it is so untouched, and so beautiful.
We were fascinated to see fishermen working with traditional methods where large nets were pulled in from the shore – an experience that gave a feeling that old traditions are still alive.
Camping at Lake Shkoder in Albania
When we pulled in here yesterday at Lake Shkodra Resort, we realized that it was the first time in Albania we had seen a campsite with a classic reception. This resort is probably one of the nicer campsites in Albania.
Lake Shkodra Resort is beautifully located on Lake Shkodra, and here you can either camp with a camper, caravan or tent, stay in a lodge or try glamping in large exclusive tents.
There are fresh service buildings, WiFi, a restaurant and bar, reception and a tiny shop. If you want, you can have your clothes washed and there is the possibility to rent a bicycle, canoe or a so-called SUP (stand up paddle board).
It is also possible to book various excursions, with or without overnight stays. We have not tried these, but several of them sounded interesting. Normally we are a little hesitant to stay at ”resorts” because the price can be high, but in Albania the price picture is generally low, so you can easily treat yourself to staying at a little more luxurious places.

We have travelled in Albania with a motorhome for about three weeks, and have experienced both different campsites and many nice places. Apart from Lake Shkoder in Albania, it is nice at Lake Ohrid, and almost everywhere along the coast.

Helena, Albania is probably the cheapest country in Europe 🙂 .
BP, yes, this is probably one of the nicer places. Then others have been personal and nice in that way.
Matts, I took the photos quite late in the evening, hence the "twilight". When we were in Macedonia it was really cool at night. Here it is warm again, but perhaps it is noticeable that we are slowly leaving the most intense summer.

There's something about adventure cars. I call all of them Paris-Dakar, that's where I first saw them on TV...I imagine they are found in some odd countries. I can't believe that some parts of Albania are so good for us mobile people...it's all about shedding your prejudices...thanks for that, Freedom 🙂.

Across the world, there are many countries to discover! Albania is perfect for us with a motorhome!
Solan, we are also a bit fascinated by these "adventure cars". You can see them here and there, but yes, maybe a little more often when travelling off the beaten track! Albania is great for travelling with a motorhome! There are campsites everywhere, although most of them are a bit simpler than this one.

And it feels almost unreal that Albania, which according to what one reads, is considered one of Europe's poorest countries, whatever that means...., has it so well organised with both camping, swimming, beaches, restaurants and other things needed for tourists to feel welcome. The beautiful nature comes on the purchase.
But do you need a visa for Albania? I forgot...

Frankie & Co, it's always a bit easier to live in countries where not everything is super expensive! 🙂
Nilla, there is really nothing to worry about! We feel safer here than in Sweden 🙂 People are incredibly friendly and there are campsites everywhere (although some are a bit simpler than this resort).
Ditte, you don't need a visa! Just a passport and green card (if you have your car with you). We crossed the borders easily in about 10 minutes. It is clear that the country is much poorer than e.g. Sweden, but this is not a problem for tourists. There are restaurants and campsites everywhere and everyone is very hospitable and helpful. English is also better than in Italy, France and Spain, for example. The selection in the supermarkets is much poorer, but this is not a major problem. Overall, it is easy to be a tourist here!
