Many Swedes want to follow the fateful match in Valencia on site

The dream of a Swedish men's team at the World Cup this summer is still alive, and ahead of the decisive play-off match against Ukraine on 26 March, Swedish support seems to be in place in Valencia be big.

According to recent search data from momondo, flight searches from Sweden to Alicante have increased by 29 per cent compared to the same period in 2025. For those who want to follow the football drama on site, it is still possible to find direct flights to Alicante for an average of SEK 2,440 - or fly all the way to Valencia with a stopover for about SEK 3,400.

If Graham Potter and the Swedish team manage to win in Valencia, they will face a final fateful match against Poland or Albania at home in Stockholm.

Travel appetite continues - increased pressure for Easter and summer

Travel agency Tickets' latest Sifo survey shows that 56% of Swedes plan to take a holiday abroad in 2026, confirming that the high interest in travel is continuing.

At the same time, there is increased pressure ahead of Easter. Bookings for the holiday have increased by 20 per cent compared to the same period last year, which shows that it has become an important starting point for spring travel.

The survey also shows that many Swedes are happy to travel during non-school holidays. 42% say they prefer to travel outside the school holidays, when they don't have to compete with families with children for airline seats and hotel rooms, in order to get better prices and more choice.

Despite the international situation caused by the situation in the Middle East, there is no clear negative impact on travel. According to Ticket's booking figures, demand remains stable.

The largest choir concert in Sweden in 33 years - with 3333 students

When the Globe was newly built in 1993, 4,000 students from music classes around the country gathered in a joint choir concert. World record - she swims the Göta Canal

One of the world's most accomplished long-distance swimmers, Anna-Carin Nordin, is taking on a historic challenge in the summer of 2026. As the first person ever, she plans to swim the entire Göta Canal - from Meme to Gothenburg - without a wetsuit.

The swim will cover approximately 190 kilometres through the Göta Canal, and a total of around 400 kilometres in open water when including Lake Vättern, Lake Vänern and the Göta River. The project is expected to take around 21 days and will be carried out according to international rules. ”This is my biggest project yet. It's about endurance, mental strength and showing what's possible,” says Anna-Carin Nordin.

FREEDOM Xplore expands with more and more destinations

When we started our travel agency FREEDOM Xplore (ad link) Last year we were very focused on building personalised and customised packages, with a combination of experiences. Funny, but it is difficult to put these packages together at the speed required today.

Now our partner (Xbrandify) has managed to combine regular hotel stays (in hotels we know and can recommend) with the slightly more complex packages. As we accept a lower commission, the prices will be very good for you as a customer.

Our ambition is to be able to offer ”ordinary” hotel accommodation (at a great price!) combined with personally selected packages, which include experiences!

The range is still a bit limited - but it's growing and growing! Select country and/or city - and then click on search. Feel free to check it out now (yes, you can book!), and we'll let you know when there's more!

Reflection of the week

We say a big CONGRATULATIONS to all the campsites that won this great prize! We don't know them all, but the ones we have visited have been great experiences - certainly very well motivated places!

Swim the Göta Canal ....? So no, I will not do that. But yes, absolutely, it is impressive! We would love to experience the Göta Canal again, but preferably without swimming ...!
