2025 - a new record year for the High Coast
The High Coast continues to strengthen its position as one of Sweden's fastest growing destinations. Official statistics show an increase in commercial guest nights of almost 18 per cent. In 2025, 749,868 guest nights were recorded in the High Coast, with foreign visitors accounting for the strongest growth.
In recent years, several new travel incentives have been created, such as the opening of Hernö Gin Hotel and in Lövvik, a holiday village, camping and outdoor scene have emerged. The High Coast has also carried out several international initiatives, with viewing trips, sales trips and press trips that have contributed to increased visibility in the international press.
Summer 2026 offers a wide range of events, concerts and flavours. New experiences such as the Ulvöleden and bookable packages make it easier for everyone to discover nature.

SAS launches Starlink high-speed WiFi
SAS is introducing next-generation high-speed WiFi onboard across its fleet, providing EuroBonus members with fast, reliable and gate-to-gate connectivity.
In partnership with mobile operator 3, EuroBonus members will be able to connect onboard for free from 24 March. As Starlink installations expand across the Airbus A320 family, and eventually the rest of the SAS operated fleet, SAS expects a significant proportion of the fleet to be connected before the summer season.

For those who want to experience the Göta Canal at their own pace, a brand new travel experience is now being launched: ”Roadtrip along the Göta Canal”. A ready-made package where the traveller follows the canal in their own car, stays in carefully selected places and ends with a classic boat trip.
The new package takes visitors along the entire length of the canal - from Sjötorp on Lake Vänern to Söderköping on the Baltic Sea - with stops at some of the canal's most popular sites. The journey combines:
- Selected accommodation along the canal
- Tips on experiences, cafés and excursions

- A final boat trip on the canal

Rolfs Flyg & Buss launches trips for experienced walkers
More and more travellers want to use their holidays to test their limits. Hikes and treks where the journey is built around physical performance are increasingly in demand - from alpine trails to expeditions in spectacular nature.
Rolfs Flyg & Buss, the largest group tour operator in the Nordic region, is now launching a new concept for experienced hikers: Explore More which brings together trips for those who want to take on longer and more demanding treks in some of the world's most dramatic landscapes.
The trips include longer day-long stages, greater altitude differences and more adventurous terrain. One example is the hike along the classic Inca Trail in Peru. The trips are conducted in groups with a tour leader and are aimed at travellers with hiking experience.

Denmark tops Swedes' list of holiday destinations - Stena Line is ready
Denmark is one of the most attractive destinations for Swedes right now. Almost every second Swede is planning a trip to the neighbouring country in the next three years, according to a new market analysis from VisitDenmark. Shorter stays, spontaneous weekend trips and long weekends are particularly attractive - which is also reflected in Stena Line's booking data.
VisitDenmark notes that Swedes' image of Denmark is often dominated by well-known destinations such as Copenhagen, Tivoli and Legoland. At the same time, there is a strong interest in new experiences.
Stena Line, which operates the Gothenburg-Fredrikshamn route, is seeing increased interest in travelling to northern Jutland. The possibility of easily taking the ferry over for a weekend, for example to Skagen, makes the journey a popular option.

Love is Blind causes Swedish searches for Corfu to explode
The hit show where contestants get engaged without having seen each other continues to engage Swedish viewers, and now Hotels.com can reveal that the programme is also influencing Swedes' desire to travel.
- Swedish searches on the luxury hotel Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa, where participants travel after getting engaged, has increased by 125% since the programme's premiere.
- Searches on the island of Corfu have increased by 45 per cent on Hotels.com.
The increased interest shows the direct effect that the most streamed series and films can have on generating interest in specific destinations and accommodation.

Reflection of the week
It's interesting that what we see on TV and comics so much influences where we want to travel! We're watching Game of Thrones now (third time!) and apart from the fact that I'd love to visit Braavos (well, impossible!), some of the views inspire me to go to Croatia as well as southern Spain.

I am not surprised that many people choose to visit Denmark. It's a country that we are very close to and that offers a lot. This summer it will be Lökken and possibly Bornholm, which is a real gem.
