Friday Blog: Värmland trip, birthday and free camping

Text and photo: Helena Bergström

Right now we are in Värmland. We are discovering a landscape that we have seen very little of before, while slowly moving towards Norway.

Art, culture, history…

Värmland offers a lot of art, culture and history. We have visited several really nice art museums and other exciting places, such as Alfred Nobel's Björkborn. More reports coming soon!

and nature!

Of course, Värmland also offers lots of beautiful nature, in the form of forests and lakes. We will report on this too!

Birthday (without Facebook)

I had a birthday during these days, but it was barely noticeable because I happened to be logged out of Facebook (and that's where most people send congratulations).

The fact that I was logged out of Facebook is a scourge in itself and is related to the fact that I tried to change my email address (because the one registered on Facebook no longer exists).

In connection with this, Facebook thought that I might not be me and asked me to record a video of my face, which I did. A month later, I received an email from Facebook saying that my passport photo (?) was not clear enough and that I needed to send a new one. Just one small problem: No information or link in the email about where I'll send the passport photo. Of course, the email can't be answered and, as you know, I can't log in to find solutions that way...

Well, thanks anyway to everyone who probably sent congratulations via Facebook! We celebrated the day with a lovely ice cream in a cozy harbor. Not so bad!

Fricamping

We camp extremely much – or sleep in the car in parking lots, which is actually a more correct expression. If you use the word ”camping”, it is easy for people to confuse the whole thing with Right of public access, and at the risk of being nitpicky, we repeat that it is certainly fantastic in every way – but does not apply to motor vehicles.

However, you are allowed to sleep in your vehicle in parking lots, which we do very often. Sometimes we find a cozy gravel parking lot with a river or lake view where we can enjoy nature all by ourselves, and sometimes we get to hang out with other camper friends – which can also be very nice.

We spent one night in the harbor in Säffle.
We spent another night at a campervan park in Arvika.

This week: Grateful for ...

This week we are grateful for the opportunity to be out and about. We are grateful for experiencing so many new beautiful places, and for all the wonderful encounters with people along the way.

Your turn ... What are you grateful for this week?
