Updated: August 2026 | We stayed at the Hotel President during a winter trip to Budapest and had a great time. The hotel is still there and is now called Hotel President Budapest, Affiliated by Meliá. When we stayed here there was a spa with pools, but the wellness area has since been closed for extended periods. Therefore, check the current facilities directly with the hotel before booking.

Large room at Hotel President
The reception at Hotel President in Budapest felt fresh and worthy of a good hotel. Yet we were almost shocked when we stepped into the hotel room at Hotel President. Wow, how big!
We didn't deliberately book an extra large room, and yet it was huge. Admittedly, it has a sloping ceiling, so if you count ceiling height it might not be that big, but still!
The room had our beds, a sofa set that felt like it was extended, a desk and a wardrobe. When Peter was at the other end of the room, it felt like I had to shout loudly for him to hear what I had to say.
We don't usually stay this luxuriously and it was extra nice. This was worth the money because we paid for a small room in a standard hotel in Sweden.

Large bathroom
The bathroom in our room at the Hotel President was also huge. It had a bathtub, which was nice, two sinks and a… sofa! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sofa in a bathroom before…
We didn't use the sofa, but the bathtub came in handy. I'm pretty sure Peter enjoyed the bath! With a whiskey in his hand and the luxury of a nice apartment, life felt great.
When we stayed here there was a spa with pools
Hotel President is a spa hotel and when we stayed there were several pools on the ground floor. We thought it was really nice! We ran up and changed and it was as good as it looks and we were almost alone.

Some contrast between Marakech and Budapest. Both cities are fascinating but in very different ways. Take the opportunity to bathe in the hot springs. It's so nice to do it outdoors, when it's cold and preferably if it's snowing.
