Another year of travelling is coming to an end. In 2025, we have made a long series of exciting trips, both with and without a motorhome, both in Europe and in more exotic parts of the world. In total, we visited 12 countries, including one new country...!

Our trips and motorhome journeys in 2025 – in brief
If we summarise the travel year 2025 for us, Peter and Helena at FREEDOMtravel, we have travelled a great deal:
- Number of continents: 3 (Europe, Africa, Asia)
- Number of countries: 12 (Egypt, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, Slovakia)
- Number of new countries: 1 (Slovakia)
- Number of Swedish counties: 5 (Uppland, Dalarna, Ångermanland, Småland, Skåne)
- Time spent travelling: 7 months
- Ways of travelling: Motorhome (5.5 months), air travel (1 month) and travel by car or train (2 weeks)
So, how can we travel so much? Well, we work while we travel. Most of the time, we travel in our own motorhome and try to stick to a tight budget (lots of free camping and cooking in the motorhome), and otherwise we go on some press trips or trips where we combine private travel with various collaborations.
The background is that we have combined our strong love of travel with work – a lifestyle that hardly makes us rich financially, but fills our days with adventure and experiences.
January: At home in Stockholm
We started this year at home in our houseboat in Stockholm. Among other things, we talked about just that: What is it like to live in a houseboat?

February: Åland and Dalarna
We were at home in Stockholm for most of February too, but we managed to squeeze in a few adventures: a lovely day cruise to Åland and an overnight stay in cosy ”Oddis Öga” at Näsets Marcusgård in Dalarna.

March: Egypt
March began with motorhome exhibitions: both Tumbomässan and Stockholm Caravan Motorhome. In addition, Peter took me on a surprise trip to Malmö! This month's big trip was to Cairo in Egypt, where we had the opportunity to see Pyramids of Giza. Fascinating!

April: The High Coast and Central Europe
April was an incredibly busy month for us in terms of travel. We started with a motorhome adventure heading north, including Glamping High Coast and Adventure mine in Tuna Hästberg.
Then we repacked the motorhome and drove south: towards this year's big motorhome trip. We started with packrafting in Småland before we took the ferry to Poland. Now we visited, among other places, the Czech nature reserve Hrubá Skála and accommodation for two lovely spa hotels in Poland.

May: Croatia and France
At the beginning of May, we left the motorhome at Munich Airport and flew down to Split to join in on a fantastic cruise in Croatia's archipelago. We then flew back to Munich and travelled into France, where we started in cosy Colmar.
After this, it was time for another cruise: a exclusive river cruise in Burgundy – truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! After the cruise, we continued our journey in France with our motorhome, visiting highlights such as the cave. Padirac Abyss and the historic pilgrimage site Rocamadour.

June: France
We spent the whole of June in France in our motorhome. We hung out in the fantastic the Gorges du Tarn canyon, where we were visited by our friends Lennart and Beata. A little later, we were visited by Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra. Together with them, we travelled back to Burgundy, where we visited the beautiful towns of Dijon and Beaune.
When we were alone again, we went to another fantastic canyon, namely Ardeche, where we enjoyed nature and canoeing.

July: Corsica
At the beginning of July, we took the ferry from mainland France to beautiful Corsica. Here we visited charming towns such as Saint-Florence and drove on dramatic roads, such as Calanche di Piana. We visited Corsica for the first time ten years ago, and it was fantastic to return!

August: Sardinia and southern Italy
From Corsica, we took a ferry to Sardinia. We travelled around in our motorhome and visited places such as the beautiful bay. Cala Gonone and the main town Cagliari.
We then travelled on to Naples on the Italian mainland. Here we visited, among other places Pompeii, which had been on our wish list for a long time, and was just as fascinating as we had imagined.

September: Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Greece
In September, we began travelling north through Italy, spending quite a long time at beautiful Lake Garda, where we visited places such as Sirmione and Riva del Garda. We continued through Switzerland and Germany, where we watched the water show in Kassel Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe.
When we arrived in Sweden, we drove straight to the Elmia Caravan and Motorhome Show, where we presented awards to Destination of the Year 2025. That same month, we managed to travel to the Greek island of Andros, where we experienced The lovely beaches of Andros and pleasant restaurants in Andros.

October: Uzbekistan and Tunisia
October was an exotic month for us, as we managed to visit both Central Asia and North Africa. We once again took a group of writers on a press trip to Uzbekistan, where we took the train to Zomin National Park and train to Samarkand.
After that, we only had a few days at home before it was time for another press trip, this time to Tunisia. During this trip, we visited the blue and white city, among other places. Sidi Bou Said before we went down to the more exotic Douz in the southern part of the country.

November: Slovakia
November brought the first ”new” country of the year: Slovakia. We went on a press trip to Bratislava, where we went on an excursion with wine safari in Slovakia. Slovakia turned out to be a pleasant acquaintance!

December: Germany
The last trip of the year went to island of Usedom on the Baltic Sea coast in Germany. Here we experienced a truly wonderful holiday paradise, which is surprisingly unknown among Swedes, including spa in Heringsdorf.

A few quiet weeks at home
Now we are planning for a few quiet weeks at home... Next year there will be new adventures again, but first we will focus on the sofa, cooking, cleaning, working at home on the computers, relatives, Christmas celebrations and things like that.

Wow, what an exciting and, to say the least, eventful year of travel you've had. A few days ago, we talked about how it was time to look back on a year that has been very different for us. No long summer trip and no trips without the motorhome, apart from a short cruise to Helsinki. Yet it has been a special year in many ways. It's fun to read about everything you've done since we met in Jönköping when you were on your way to your long motorhome trip this spring. Take care! Hugs

What a wonderful life you have! Best of all... Not bad with 12 countries in one year, impressive.
I think motorhome life is so cosy.
However, I fully understand that you are enjoying several weeks at home in Pampas. Quite right.
Hugs!

Yes, it was an intense year of travelling...! Of course, it's easier to visit several countries in Europe, where everything is close by. One day, I visited three countries in a single day 😉 All the best!

It's impressive what you've managed to achieve in 2025. Following your travel blog has its advantages, as it means you don't have to travel yourself. I'm looking forward to reading about which resorts you're planning for 2026 :-)
