Updated: October 2026 | Sandviks camping is located on the northern shore of Lake Roxen, about ten kilometers from Bergs sluissar. Here you can combine camping life by the water with excursions along the Göta Canal and to Linköping. We have visited the campsite on several occasions, most recently in 2024 together with our South African friends Henri and Michelle.

Updated: October 2026 | Västerås Mälarcamping, which is now called First Camp Västerås–Mälaren, is beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Mälaren. We visited the campsite several times during our first years with a motorhome, around 2010–2013. Here we had relaxing camping weekends with beach walks, good food and sometimes nice meetings with camping neighbors.

Updated: October 2026 | Härjarö camping, which is now run as Härjarö Gård, is located on Lake Mälaren outside Enköping. The campsite reopened in the summer of 2026 after many years of closed operations. We visited the site during Easter 2012 and remember above all the tranquility, the swarm of campers and an unexpectedly snowy morning. Today, campsites and tent sites are offered with the nature reserve's forests, beaches and hiking trails around.

Updated: October 2026 | Ängsö camping is located on Lake Mälaren between Västerås and Enköping, near Ängsö nature reserve. We visited the campsite with a camper van in the spring of 2012 and enjoyed our first outdoor meal of the year. There are campsites with and without electricity, beaches and opportunities for excursions in the surrounding area.

Updated: October 2026 | Bredsands camping in Enköping is beautifully situated by Lake Mälaren, close to a sandy beach, walks and swimming. We have been here several times with our camper, both for relaxing weekends and for an overnight stay on the way home. What we especially appreciate is the location by the water and the relaxed environment.

Over the years we have stayed in various parking lots and car parks in the port area, but also stayed at a campsite. Updated: October 2026 | Eköns camping, or KustCamp Ekön, is located by the sea in the Gryts archipelago outside Valdemarsvik. Here you stay close to bathing cliffs, forests and hiking trails in the Eköns nature reserve. We visited the campsite during midsummer 2011 together with our friends Lena and Rutger and had a nice weekend, despite the changeable weather to say the least.

Updated: October 2026 | Hjälmargården & Läppe camping is located on the southern shore of Hjälmaren in Läppe, near Vingåker. We visited Hjälmargården by motorhome in 2011, when I, Helena, was to give a lecture at the conference facility. There was also time for a walk along the water and a read in the sun. Today, camping, camping sites, cabins and hostels are offered, with beaches and activities nearby.

Updated: October 2026 | Ekuddens camping in Kungsör is located by Lake Mälaren, surrounded by large old oak trees. We stayed here overnight with a camper in 2011 and appreciated the lush environment and the walk along the beach. The campsite has since been newly managed and renovated, and offers campsites, cabins and hostels.

Updated: October 2026 | Skokloster camping is located by Lake Mälaren on the Skohalvön peninsula in Håbo municipality. We visited the campsite with a camper in 2011 and appreciated the water position, the promenade and a quiet evening with a view. There is a shallow beach here, and for those who want to take an excursion, Skokloster Castle is in the same area.
