Day D. Finally, it was time for wine tasting. I have talked about this for years, and we set the GPS to Verona and Valpolicella. We had received a recommendation from a person who posted on our site about a fantastic Amarone wine that costs around 800 SEK in Sweden. So why not try to find it?
Viviani
The GPS took us very high up among the mountains, in Azienda Agricola Viviani and all the grapes, and we arrived at a place among narrow alleys, and did not look like a vineyard at all. We did not dare to go in, so as not to get stuck in the alley, so we parked the car a bit away, and went looking. Not a soul was to be seen, and only old houses. We walked away and thought that it was probably not the right address, but there was a football field nearby, so we went there and asked.
Of course they only knew Italian, but we showed them the address and they pointed us to where we came from. Ok, we went back and looked again, but we didn't find anything, and when we were leaving, a guy came behind us and we took the opportunity to ask him. Surely we could come and taste wine!
Valpolicella
We went along and his production facility was under his house in Suteräng, no wonder we couldn't find it. He had six different varieties of Valpolicella and Amarone wines. This is absolutely wonderful, to just taste and hear the production processes and the history of the wines, and in English, just that is incredible.
We thank you for not writing your name on the post, but we came to a family that has had their vines for hundreds of years and has wines that are very special. We have of course bought Casa dei bepi, which is then their family name, and we paid 334 kroner, and it is incredibly good. His Valpolicella wines were also very high class, so we went shopping.
More wine tasting in Valpolicella
Then we went past another place and more wine tasting, more Amarone wines, and also food wines for 30 kronor a bottle, so now we have for the whole trip. There were many boxes, but it is wine, cheese and olives every day, sickly hot and bathing every half hour. Incredibly beautiful it is here, around Lake Garda. This is really a holiday!
