We have now rolled the motorhome to the small town of Mortagne sur Gironde, located on the Gironde estuary, just north of Bordeaux. Here we stand very nicely at a small harbour and look out at the boats in front of us.
Cold morning
This morning we woke up at the caravan park in Il de Ré that it was freezing cold - the gas had run out. It was an early morning, without coffee, but Peter took it. unusually good (cold mornings without coffee are not his favourite, so to speak...). As soon as it was light, we continued our journey south, and today we have stopped in the small village of Mortagne sur Gironde.
Mortagne sur Gironde
Mortagne-sur-Gironde is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of western France. The municipality is a fairly small place, with just under a thousand inhabitants. The nearest large town is Bordeaux.
RV park in Mortagne sur Gironde
This is a cosy little town, and we are standing in the harbour with 5-6 other motorhomes. We've just had a good clam lunch and are listening to the wind tearing at the flags and sails. At first we didn't know how to pay, but after a few hours on site, someone came and knocked on the window and wanted to be paid in cash. Now we just take it easy and enjoy standing in a nice spot.

BP, and when it's cold it's important to have gas in the tank!!! But absolutely, some good seafood cheers up in any situation! It's nice here too!

Maggan and Ingemar says:
You seem to be very unlucky.
On our fixed gas bottle we have a gauge where we can see the level. Unfortunately it is on the back so we have to use a mirror to check it.
Now he has realised that he can take a photo of it instead.
We never have to be without gas nowadays.
Filling up when we still fill up with diesel.
Response to posts:
What kind of GPS do you have? 😀
Being able to enter coordinates is very important to us.
When we lost our GPS in Portugal 3 years ago, we immediately bought a new one there.
There are also good map programmes for ipad/android that are not so expensive and where you can enter coordinates, the problem is that you have to charge it all the time because it uses a lot of electricity.
We had to do this when we were in Albania and forgot to update our GPS.
Maps.me is a cheap app and applies to all countries.

A bit unlucky, but perhaps these "opportunities" will now have positive effects.

You'll have to hurry down to the Spanish Costa del Sol. Apparently that's where the sun and heat are. Shivering and freezing does not make for a cosy holiday. Warm hugs from an unseasonably warm Norrbotten (+ - 0)!

Steve, not stupid at all!
Maggan and Ingemar, smart with a meter! We have no fixed bottle, and no meter unfortunately. Normally we have two bottles, but now we have bought a French bottle, and we only have one of them... As for GPS, we have Pioneer. It works really well, but the sad thing is that coordinates do not work. Usually it works well anyway, but sometimes it can be difficult to find the street. Many thanks for the tips! We are not so keen on spending now and electricity is also a shortage, but it can be interesting to think about!
Ditte, unplanned trips work like that, luck and bad luck mixed together!
Nisse, yes, funnily enough it always ends at night! Great that there are parking spaces!
🙂
Henny, we are eventually heading that way... But I want to see some of the road too...

Lennart, that's true... We have a French bottle that can be refilled, but it's difficult to find places that fill it. However, there are plenty of places that are happy to change the bottle...

Things don't always turn out as planned, but they can still be good. When we arrived in Mortagne-sur-Gironde and stood on the quayside by the harbour basin, the mussels were tempting to buy.
