Zaton Holiday Resort in Croatia
Zaton Holiday Resort in Croatia is one of those places that you either love or hate, I think. The campsite is enormous, very well maintained and has everything you could wish for. If this is what you are looking for on holiday, Zaton Holiday Resort is indeed the perfect place.
If you prefer a small and secluded campsite, without restaurants and activities, then you might want to look elsewhere. Either way, it's fascinating to take a tour of this resort - come along!
Huge holiday resort
Zaton Holiday Resort in Nin is a huge holiday resort with over 1000 camping pitches, 300 caravans, 500 apartments and even several glamping tents. Along with pool areas, sports arenas and restaurant streets, the resort covers a huge area, and getting around can often require the use of the 'little train'.
Camping and glamping
The 4-star campsite offers more than 1000 large camping pitches, equipped with electricity, water and sewage. There are also glamping tents that are designed to give you a safari feel, while of course not skimping on luxury.
Caravans and apartments
Shaded by pine trees, the villas are equipped with air conditioning, a microwave and satellite TV.
The apartments are in stone houses that look like year-round residences. We visited the interior of one apartment, which was extremely modern with air conditioning and a large terrace.
Every service imaginable
The service centres at Zaton Holiday Resort are not just a place where you quickly go to run your errands. On the contrary, it is meant to make you feel comfortable. There are green plants everywhere and water flows from various fountains and installations.
Barbecues are not allowed on the campsite pitches due to the risk of fire, but instead there are nice barbecue areas that can be used by everyone. Here you can also rent a fridge - or maybe pick some fresh herbs in the herb garden.
Gigantic pool area
The pool area is huge and it was difficult to get an overview, but we counted at least eight pools. The pools have different depths and different orientations, and there is of course a pool bar next door.
Adventure golf with a local connection
The adventure golf course at Zaton Holiday Resort is really, really nice. As well as being green and pleasant to walk around, it has been built with a local theme. All stations are about some place or phenomenon in Croatia. Fun and a good opportunity to learn a little more about the country while playing.
Kids club at Zaton Holiday resort
In addition to the pool, the adventure golf course and all the other activities, there is also a playground and children's club: the Zatonino Kids Club.
Sports and leisure activities
There are certainly plenty of different sports and leisure activities to get involved in, such as water skiing, windsurfing, jet skiing, diving, football, tennis, archery, mountain biking and horse riding. There is also a 2.5 kilometre jogging track with various stops with an outdoor gym.
Entertainment at zaton Holiday Resort
Zaton Holiday Resort offers all kinds of shows for all ages: theatre, cabaret, dance evenings and cultural events. Every evening there is some kind of entertainment on the main stage.
The beach at Zaton Holiday resort
The beach at Zaton Holiday Resort is a 1.5 kilometre long beach consisting of sand and gravel. We swam here and it was really nice, but it was quite rocky at the bottom so flip-flops would have been good.
Shops and restaurants
Restaurants and shops are located in several places. The centre of the resort is reminiscent of a small town centre. The central street is lined with shops and restaurants and it is easy to forget that you are on a campsite.
We had dinner at a restaurant called Osteria Tinel. Here it was fish in packages and a dessert with a pistachio cake. Very good and nice!
Bigger or smaller campsites?
In Croatia there are many large campsites with high standards and a wide range of activities, but of course there are also small campsites. During our recent trip to the Zadar region, we saw several large campsites as well as some really small ones, and we started to think about the advantages of each. And whether it might be different at different times? What kind of campsites (or resorts) do you like, and why?

I probably dislike campsites like this as much as I dislike cruise ships and big all-inclusive hotels.... (I can perhaps understand families with children wanting lots of activities).
As usual, it is fortunate that we prefer different things!

It seems to be a gigantic facility but a large one with good service. However, I spontaneously feel that no, it's not for me at all. But we are all different and there is something for everyone.

BP says:
Talk about a luxury resort à la Ving, although it is gigantic. Have probably never seen such a large facility that has everything and much more. Can imagine that it is not exactly cheap to live there in a motorhome or rent a cottage. If I had a motorhome, I can definitely imagine putting it there, but far from the Kids Club; -)

It's clear that you have to pay for the offer, so this is a campsite to choose when you want a lot of activities of course! ??
