Supetar on Brac is the largest town on the island and can be reached by ferry from Split, located in the centre of Dalmatia. Supetar is an idyllic tourist resort in the Croatian archipelago where you can find restaurants, family hotels and beautiful beaches. During a holiday in Supetar on Brac, you can experience nature and relaxation on the Adriatic Sea.

Supetar on Brac
Supetar is located on the northern side of the Croatian island. Brac. You can get here by ferry from Split or, as we did, by bus from the village. sphere on the south side of the island.
By bus from Bol to Supetar on Brac
The roads on the island of Brac wind in tight serpentines over the high mountains and the views of the villages, the sea and the small bays below are sometimes dizzying. You don't drive very fast here - especially not with a big tourist bus - so the bus ride took just over an hour. You won't see any photos from the road, as we didn't want to take photos through the dirty bus windows, but we will return with photos from the road when we rent a car in a few days!
We took the bus from the harbour in Bol where we live and it was nice not to have to drive for a day. The roads are dramatic and very beautiful, and you want the bus driver to stop occasionally to soak up the atmosphere. Another advantage of choosing a bus instead of a car was that we could have a beer with dinner in Supetar.
A charming tourist resort
Although Supetar is the largest town on the island of Brac (with 3000 inhabitants), it looks more like a small village. Here you can stroll among charming little stone houses, narrow alleys and historic buildings. In the harbour, small colourful boats lie next to the larger car ferry, which runs continuously between Supetar and Split.
Good food in Supetar
Down by the harbour there are also several small restaurants with nice outdoor seating. We sat down at a small "konoba" (traditional restaurant) and got lamb that tasted really good ... lamb! It bodes well for "the best" lamb restaurant on the island, Copacina, which we have been recommended and hope to visit when we rent a car in a few days.

Elisabeth, we like lamb so we are looking forward to it!
BP, we have heard sometimes that people don't like lamb, but don't understand at all. As for meat, it's our favourite. We have received some tips on where to go so we have some ideas (and after all it takes an hour to cross the island by car the shortest way ;)).
Lena & Jan, I assume you are referring to refugees now? You could say this: We have been here for five weeks and travelled to lots of towns, villages, coastal strips, islands and national parks, everything you could possibly see. We haven't seen a single refugee. I understand that they are somewhere, but it is NOT that you are disturbed (or even see them) as a tourist.
Madelene, glad you are joining us! Croatia is a very nice destination.

How nice! Nice to see more of your current neighbourhood. As for lamb, I am moderately fond of it since I as a child in Norway ate "sheep-in-cabbage" and with lamb that really tasted like kofta. But I have eaten other things as well, but I am on my guard ...
It looked very cosy and nice that it is relatively free of tourists.

It is so good to stop by here and enjoy what I would call summer - blue skies, outdoor seating and a good lunch. I know a lot of people don't eat lamb because they say it tastes like cardigan, but we often eat lamb in all sorts of forms.
It will be fun to see where you end up when you rent a car. The island is not so big, so you will probably get to see most things I guess.
